Julius Beardsley "went to California in 1849, and from there to Australia . . . what happened to him??

Question

Julius Henry Beardsley was most likely a 49er who kept following the gold after the rush to California played out.

Are there any Australian researchers who might be able to find out what happened to Julius? Are there any Australian Beardsleys who can trace their lineages back to Julius?

I had a quick look at the BMD indices for Australia on Ancestry and couldn't see a Julius Beardsley on any of them. That's not to say he wasn't there, just that I didn't find him with a quick look.

The newspapers didn't have a Julius Beardsley in the 1830's through 1860's. If he was there he wasn't notable. Not all newspapers are online but the coverage of the 19th century is fairly extensive.

I was hoping to find him in the Family Notices section - Births, Deaths, Marriages etc. He still could be in Oz on the Goldfields (my family was there) and the BMD indices on Ancestry aren't as complete as they could be. They're missing all of South Australia, for example because SA wants to do its own thing. No gold in SA though, the big finds were in Victoria and then Western Australia.
