Template Noblehouse

To make it easier to compare WikiTree and WikiData/Wikipedia I did a template that can be used to compare Noble Houses on WikiData and WikiTree. WIth this template you get a report

  1. Of people on WikiData belonging to a Noble House
  2. If the Wikidata profile is connected to a person in WikiTree
  3. If the WikiData profile is connected to a FindAGrave profile

Syntax
{{NobleHouse|58389}}

parameter 1 is the object number of the Noble house without the Q see Google calc column D and video

See Space:Test_Template_NobleHouse

I have been using it on Category:House_of_Bernadotte to check that we have the same people in the WikiTree Category House of Bernadotte and also check FindAGrave records of people...

Added more links to the template

  1. sqid
  2. timeline
  3. enwiki

Also changed to have the argument without a Q
(Wikitree version of Wiki has no support for text manipulation in Templates....)

Thanks Magnus this could be very useful

But I have a couple of questions -

I had a look at the House of Hohenzollern test results and for those profiles where there isn't a Wikitree link, does that mean -

  1. They don't have a profile on Wikitree, OR
  2. They might have a profile, but don't have the category: House of Hohenzollern on that profile?

And will it only pick up those profiles where there is a corresponding article on Wikipedia?  For instance, if we have a profile on Wikitree for a member of the House of Hohenzollern who died young, and they don't have a biography on Wikipedia?

Hi

In WikiData you connect a profile to WikiTree by setting the WikiTree attribute. I have done that for about 4800 profiles at Wikitree but far from all

No WikiTree link ==> this attribute is not set or there is no WikiTree profile

As we today have no query possibility in WikiTree we can't query if a Category is set or not on a profile.

What can maybe be done is

  1. Define rules for when a profile should have Category: House of Hohenzollern  and then generate an error in the Database Error project....

see also Space:WikiData

When working with House_of_Bernadotte  I did the following

  1. checked what people we had in the WikiTree Category
  2. run the above report and compared if we had the same persons
    1. created two WikiTree profiles for two 2 children that we didn't have in WikiTree
    2. added the Category: House_of_Bernadotte to profile Munck_af_Fulkila-84 as she had Nobel Family Bernadotte in WikiData/WIkipedia
      1. She was not born Bernadotte but got the title 1888
    3. and I will add Find A Grave profiles for some people missing a Find Grave profile see graves I have visit Prince_Oscar_Bernadottes_Family grave and the Royal cemetery

Video setting the WikiTree attribute P2949

Histropedia http://histropedia.com/timeline?q=claim[53:83969]

P53 = nobel family
Q83969 = House of Hohenzollern

and claim[53:83969] ==> find all profiles with Nobel family House of Hohenzollern

P2949 is WikiTree ==> claim[2949] = find all profiles with WikiTree attribute set ==> http://histropedia.com/timeline?q=claim[2949]

claim[53:83969] ==>
find all profiles with Nobel family House of Hohenzollern

* House of Percy = Q2063857 ==> claim[53:2063857]
* House of Plantagenet Q106151 ==> claim[53:106151]
* House of Wessex Q511482 ==> claim[53:511482]
* House of Habsburg Q65968 ==> claim[53:65968]
* House of Neville Q2364167 ==> claim[53:2364167]
* House of Bourbon Q58389 ==> claim[53:58389]
* House of Orange-Nassau Q155483 ==> claim[53:155483]
......
* House of Bernadotte Q201625 ==> claim[53:201625]
....
* House of Vasa Q210601 ==> claim[53:210601]

The site looks awesome, and the fact that it helps to put a bit of organization to the research that is being done with history of prominent families. A very useful tool to have. Thank you for showing us. Might make things easier to find other relations especially if they are connected with the "Wiki" sites out there. The Youtube video's a tremendous help as well. Seeing how things are done to keep it simple and clean.
I think likning information adds value and that is genealogy 2016. Its not just linking people but also places and other things that adds context.

Wikidata is a rather new initiative I think It started in 2012 but It looks promising and can add value to Wikitree..

My understanding is that the people over at Histropedia are also fast moving so maybe we get a possibility to also have Wikitree as an option next to Wikitree and YouTube....

@Rebecca
Now Histropedia released a new possibility to create timelines from other data sources using histropediajs ==> we could use it for data from WIkiTree....

That will be a fantastic way of collecting data and keeping all the timelines in common with WikiTree
And have timelines on people in a Category.....
