The Salem (Mass.) records clearly show he arrived by 1638 and married Judith Birdsale in June 1639. But where was he born?
A multitude of trees state that he was born on 02 June 1615, but in different places in England (Kent, Yorkshire, etc.). And many others say he was born in Leyden, Netherlands, to the pilgrim Francis Cooke. The presently listed father Edmund Cook is problematic, because he supposedly had only two surviving sons Lambert and George.
What is exasperating is that I cannot find any source for his supposed birth date of 02 June 1615. Is that date correct, and if so, where did it come from???
