In working on TURNER Genealogy I have run across another Turner line that came into existence through my Grand Father Turner's wife. [Cora Luttrell>Leona Godwin>Georgia Ann Turner-11092]  This Turner is from another State [Illinois] and years later than my Turner Brick Wall on my Grandfather's side. Georgia Ann Turner-11092 married Samuel Cornelius Godwin...don't know when or where.  Her son gave the information on her death certificate, the only name given for her parents were the last name of her father as TURNER. Any help appreciated.

***I have recently found that Georgia Ann Turner's parents (names still unknown) both fell ill and died about the same time, leaving Ann and her siblings to be raised by family (she was raised by her aunt and uncle names unknown) I was told that when the River froze over one year, she walked across it from Illinois to TN. (???) She met Samuel Cornelius Godwin there and they married.  This could explain how her children knew nothing of her parents other than the little information on her death record. Father's name Unknown Turner b. ILL Mother's name unknown born unknown.   Any ideas now??

I have been searching for Georgia Ann Turner. Birth July 31 1855. Death June 23 1933. Can't find out where she was living after the death of her parents. I have found many, Turner's living in 'Ky. asking for information.

Georgia Turner Godwin had 13 children,9 Living.and for a period of time  She and husband  lived in Arkansas(roughly 1875-1880) but not during a Census year. Because in 1880 she and Husband were found in Census in Henry County, TN.  It was my hopes that the family of the oldest child Oscar Easley Godwin  born 1872 and died 1952 in Jefferson City, TN might be able to help with that information.  Since he was the oldest child, but they don't know anything either, to my knowledge.

I had also thought Court records where Georgia Ann's parents died would be a clue, but even thought I have search, I cannot find any Probate or Custody records.

I show oldest child Oscar born in Grangier TN abt 1872 and the first Census I could find Georgia and husband Samuel Godwin in was 1880 in Henry County, TN. That may be where they marriage date was gathered from.

There is another story abt Georgia Ann walking across the River that was frozen and crossed over into TN where she met Samuel Godwin.  I am looking for sources and facts, not stories.  Sometimes those stories get distorted being handed down from Generation to Generation.

You don't know how much I appreciate what you have undertaken to help on this profile.
