Was Gillian Drake, the wife of Richard Mansfield of New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of John Drake-533 of Windsor, Connecticut? Robert Charles Anderson's extensive analysis of the ancestry of John Drake of Windsor (The American Genealogist, Vol 63, pages 193-206) on page 201 lists his 5 children: John, Job, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Mary. But no daughter Gillian (or Lillian) is included. Is anyone aware of any source to document John Drake-533 as her father? If not, I suggest that we remove the parents from this profile.

Well, Donald Lines Jacobus, "Families of Ancient New Haven", Vol V, page 1137 says Richard "married at St. Mary Archer, Exeter, England, 10 Aug. 1636, Gillian Drake."  Originally published in the New England Genealogical Register; see here: https://archive.org/stream/newenglandhistor66wate#page/308/mode/1up/search/Gillian

The church seems to have been St. Mary Arches, not Archer; while Familysearch and Findmypast supposedly have the church's marriage records online, I haven't managed to get Familysearch to disgorge it.

So "Gillian Drake" may be correct (no mention of "Lillian")  but I want to see that marriage record.

HOWEVER:  she's not John Drake's daughter.   He died in 1659, ten years before Gillian; his will mentions each of his five children by name and relationship AND THEN SAYS "My five children".

Oh, and I suggest you tag this as "England" as well, since the relevant document(s) are English.

I have a Find My Past subscription- will report back.

Richard Mansfeild & Jilian Drake were married August 10th A Dm 1636

Definitely a "J" and not an "L", as it matches the "J" in "John" and "James" elsewhere on the page in the same handwriting.
This is a copy of the original, written well after the 17th century. All we know from this record is that a later transcriber read it as a "J" not an "L".
