Can links be fixed to open in a new tab or page, to keep wikitree open?

I am writing to make a suggestion for a future update: when we click on a link in the bio, can it be fixed to open the link in a new tab or window? Right now it's opening in the same tab/window, which makes it difficult if a person has to go back and forth between Wikitree and other links.

Using IE or Edge hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the link. Opens in new tab. Holding Shift key opens in new window.

I have a habit of always right clicking on links in Chrome so that they open in a new tab.  Since many websites have links they don't open in a new tab, it's a useful habit to develop.

Doesn't have to be Chrome, I do it in Firefox all the time.

That is, I open in a new tab when I want to, and I go straight on in the same tab when that suits me better. I think the user should have the control over when to open a new tab and when not.
I click by using the mouse wheel in FireFox just about every time. Sometimes this doesn't work but 99.9% of the time it does.

I also think the user should have control over the tabs.

I'm here four years later to discuss the same topic. My thoughts are that we are creating a tree for everyone not just WikiTree members and although it is well known to right click etc not everyone knows. When developing my blog I set it that all links going to other domains automatically opened in a new tab. It would be sad if someone with very limited digital skills came across the site, followed a link and couldn't remember how to go back.

For how many years have we been asking for this feature?  Yes, you may get this function by right clicking and selecting "open in new tab" or as explained elsewhere for IE (and presumably Edge), and chrome.  But an easy identifier is needed when it is obvious that the link needs to open on a page located at a different website (thus taking a person away from Wikitree).

A very verbose solution is to simply indicate it in the text associated with the URL, but this again involves special operations by the browser user.  It should be a single click solution.

Hi Carl. Maybe the WikiTree Browser Extension could achieve this. You could make a request at
