This is the brickwall in my direct male ancestry. Everything I have on him is on the profile. It's not much. Admittedly, I haven't done much research in a long time, and I never did serious shoe leather genealogy.

1850 US Census, Unity, Waldo, Maine, Samuel H. Whitten is 44y, born Maine est 1806.  Wife Lydia 53y b. Maine, Samuel 20y b. Maine, Caroline A. Prentice 15y b. Maine.

1860 US Census for Waldo, Maine, Ward: Troy, Samuel H. Whitten is 57y, est b 1803.

1870 US Census in Maine, household of Albian Whitten 42y, Sarah K. Whitten 42y, James Whitten 12y, Happy Whitten Female 11y, Samuel H. Whitten 65y, and Lydia S. Whitten  73y.   All members of household were born in Maine.

Still not sure who his parents were. Research for another day.

Possibly Albert H. Whitten could be an older brother to Samuel.
