This is also my Great Grandfather, (though I thought his father's name was Henry). I am currently trying to find the info re: Barbados. What I know from my relatives (and their research) is that MacDonald Deane went from England to Barbados at the age of 2 (Later 1880/ or early '81) and then from Barbados to Canada in 1909. He married Mary Sweeney in Newfoundland in 1911. I hope this information helps you. Please let me know if you find the Barbados info.
