Second Wife Problem continues...

Hello again,

I am ashamed to admit that I am still struggling with getting the second wife onto William Ripley-1034 profile.  I  think what the problem stems from is that initially I must have set wife #1 (McDonald-1134) up on the right side option instead of pushing the spouse button on the front page.  I don't believe I knew that you had to add a spouse that way.  It seems that it only only becomes an issue when you want to add a second wife.  I may be wrong on this.   Please correct me if I have oversimplified this.

I have certainly learned my lesson!  Question becomes one of, if I remove both wives and start over adding them correctly will it fix the problem.  You can see #2 wife  on the right edge.

I am open for suggestions...

Don't ever be embarrassed to admit you need help.  We have all been there, done that, as the saying goes.  Someone can usually help out when you come here and ask for it.  That is one of the better parts of this column.

I finally got the second wife in!!!! and I went to the only child by the second wife and changed her mother on the right hand column to the second mother and it changed on the mother on the child's page, but not on the fathers page.

I did remember I need to put half sister in front of her on the fathers page. 

This has been an amazing learning experience for me.  I know many of you can run in and fit it fast for me, but I will not have learned anything form it.  Believe me I have struggled with this mess, but I have with all of your help worked thru it!

OK, Charles Ripley is currently connected to Mary Ann McDonald as wife.

To add Maggie Currie as the second wife, you need to click on "Add spouse" -- on the righthand side of the edit screen. Specifically, that will take you to https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Ripley-1034&action=editfamily&w=spouse

On that screen, you will have a choice of creating a new profile or linking to an existing profile. (I don't think Maggie exists yet.)

The yellow "add spouse" link appears in the profile data section only when the person is on your trusted list and doesn't have a spouse yet. To add a second spouse, you need to go to the edit screen and use the link on the righthand side.

I'm not sure I am understanding the problem.  I see the discussion of the second wife in the biography, but I don't see her "on the right edge" (I am not sure what you mean by that).

Have you already created a profile for the second wife?

You should be able to add Maggie Currey by editing Charles Ripley-1034, and in the marriage section on the right, click "Add/remove a spouse".

No even though I entered a bunch of info for the second wife it never created a profile for her.  I tried to find it today and it wasn't there

Yes, Taylor figured out the problem and created the second wife.  I didn't want to do it myself for her.
