i am looking for more information on my paternal grandmother.
i dont know much about her, from what little i learned she was adopted into the lancaster family, no matter how hard i search even for her first name ,i get no results. no census or obituary records. her first name doesnt seem very common , she might of been called leigh ( or maybe spelled lee by mistake ) . when she married her last name changed to cronin.
i believe her death date was 1978 ? or sometime else in the 1970s. she was realitively young i think in her 30's. and from what i know she spent her childhood in maine. i know this isnt alot of infomation because i barely know about her, but if this rings any bells with anybody id love to hear back.

The only Lancaster family in Augusta, Maine 1952 city directory is Chauncy C and Edith. He was employed at Togus, the Maine Veteran's Hospital. They lived on Hicks Rd. Leannine is found in the the 1958 & 1960 Cony High School yearbook as a member of the class of 1961. The other Lancaster's in Augusta in 1952 are Mrs Helen J, Leila J and Loretta J living at 75 Bridge (the pattern of first name beginning with an "L" and a middle initial "J" seems to fit this family). Also, Lucy W and Margaret I living at 24 S Chestnut St.

Chauncey C Lancaster married Edith M Duplessis on 30 Jun 1940 in Maine (both res. Augusta). He died in Maine and there is no mention of a deceased daughter in his obituary. His obituary is here: http://obituaries.centralmaine.com/obituaries/mainetoday-centralmaine/obituary.aspx?n=chauncey-c-lancaster&pid=174282521

Helen A Lancaster was the widow of Marshall Henry Lancaster who died 26 Aug 1954. In 1940 census they had daughters Leila J, 7, Loretta J., 5, and Loraine D., 4. On 4 Jun 1951 they had their 6th child, Alida Elaine, in St Johnsbury, Vermont. Her name was Helen Alida or Annie Weston and they married in Maine (both residents of Kingman) on 26 Jan 1933. She remarried to Austin Nute.

The 1962 Augusta city directory is the only one of those available on Ancestry where Leannine is listed: "Lancaster, Leannine J emp CMPCo (probably that the Central Maine Power Company),  r Wilbert A Morrissette". Wilbert Morrissette was married to Gladys Smith and lived on Bolton Hill Rd.

in an above comment , someone suggests that a edith  lancaster and an chauncy lancaster also lived in the area, i wonder what their relationship could be to marshall and helen possibly .
More wook needs to be done to identify any possible relationship, but Helen's obituary make's it clear that she is Leannine's mother. It could be coincidence that two (or more) people with the same surname lived in the same city at the time.
