My great great grandparents Per and Bothilda Hanson immigrated from Skane Sweden in 1887. I am having difficulty finding answers to their ancestors names and dates. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

I added the SWEDEN tag and a link to Bothilda's profile.
Thank you Eva. Great idea!

Do they have profiles on WikiTree?

When were they born? Where they married in Sweden? What was Bothildas LNAB?

In order to find them we simply need a little more information I'm afraid.

They are here: https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Hanson-Family-Tree-3543

And here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063826_00250 Billeberga kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/LLA/13023/A I/6 (1866-1876), bildid: C0063826_00250

They may be a good case to explore after February 1st, when Riksarkivet SVAR goes free of charge. They are not a real brick wall - just incomplete info at Ancestry and in American censuses.
Can't see the book Eva, didn't renew my AD subscription since it's a short time left before SVAR opens the archives free.

This is what I found at the registers at emiweb.eu;

Per Hansson, b. 1837-11-17 in Tirup, Malmöhus county leaves Sweden 1887-11-07 from Helsingborgs Stadsförsamling, Malmöhus county.

On the same day Botilla Månsdotter, b. 1837-12-17 in Annelöv, Malmöhus leaves together with four children, all born in Billeberga.

As Eva says, you can most likely see for yourself after February 1, using the link she provided.
You know, I'm thinking there should be some sort of study circle for people with Swedish Roots when SVAR goes open.

I'm not sure we need to go all formal and have people join a project and so on - in my view it might be enough to keep it going here in G2G and try to pull people in. And connect questions to each other.

So I would advise Phyllis to just wait another couple of weeks.

About G2G: in my opinion it works SO much better that the Google Groups, tecnically. G2G isn't perfect either, I'm sure - but at least you don't unintentionally answer in private, you don't get your own messages back as mail, but you get the answers - you even have an option to turn off the email answers for individual threads. And you don't have the whole thread repeated in each comment or answer, in that annoying email-list fashion.
Per Hanson's birth date was November 17 1837. Bothilda's was December 17 1837. Both were born in Skane Sweden. I believe they were married November 18 1863 in Billeberga, Malmohus Sweden. I'm sorry but I'm very new to this and don't know what LNAB is. Thank you,

Phyllis
That's WikiTree jargon for Last Name At Birth.

Thank you Eva, I will absolutely look into Riksarkivet SVAR on February 1st!

Phyllis

Great information! Thank you Maggie!
Let's hope their servers don't crash!

I was thinking that when you get access to the record I posted, we could continue in this thread, if you have further questions - I'm sure you will have questions.
OHHH! lol. Well that's part of my dilemma.  It's listed differently in different resources. It could be Juranson, Monsdotters or Abrahamsdotter, possibly even Larson. Per had a brother named John who married Bothilda's sister Sissa. I think Per were born in the Gulltyarps Parish, possibly the Parish of Tirip which is about 5 miles north of Annelov Parish. Also, it's possible it was the Reslof Parish 7 miles east of Annelov. I believe Bothilda was born in Annelov. Ya, that's why I'm so confused.

Yes, it IS confusing with the parishes. I noticed the other day that there were at least 278 little parishes in Malmöhus County. So that you just needed to move to the next village to be in a different set of books. I'm not so familiar with the province of Skåne and its two counties, but I have a similar situation in Västergötland - I even have ancestors in a village that was in two different parishes, with people intermarrying between the different farms in the village.

This https://kartor.eniro.se/m/h8vcd is Billeberga on the map I use most often - you can see how close the churches are (although they don't come in flocks, like the wind turbines)

I know you will be able to look this up yourself in a week, but I got curious and had a look in SVAR. If Eva's household record link is for the correct family, then here is the next book, showing them moving to Helsingborg in 1884: Billeberga kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/LLA/13023/A I/7 (1876-1885), bildid: C0063827_00288 https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063827_00288 and here is Botillas birth and baptismal record, showing that her LNAB was Månsdotter and her parents were Måns Larsson and Hanna Mattisdotter: Annelövs kyrkoarkiv, Födelse- och dopböcker, SE/LLA/13006/C I/1 (1829-1866), bildid: C0063599_00038 https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063599_00038. And here is the marriage record: Billeberga kyrkoarkiv, Födelse- och dopböcker, SE/LLA/13023/C I/6 (1835-1864), bildid: C0063837_00120 https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063837_00120

Oh my goodness Elisa! Thank you so much! I can hardly wait until February to be able to view this information! If they list children, Per and Bothilda had my grandfather John in 1865, Emma, Mons, Hokan, and Elof. My great grandmother Anna Larson or Nelson or Nilsson is also a mystery. I think she was born in Varmland in 1877 to Erick and Brita. John and Anna were married in Chicago in 1909.
Yes, that seems correct! Your grandfather's birth name was Jöns. I can see why John would be easier in the US. The other children listed are daughter Ingar (1869), and sons Måns (1873), Håkan (1875), and Elof (1877). All born in Billeberga parish. The family lived in the village of Tostarp 1876-1884 (same parish). Before that, they lived in Billeberga.

Also, Per was married previously. With his first wife, Ingar Persdotter, he had a son, who was also named Jöns. This Jöns passed away after only 2 days and Ingar died a week later, from complications after the birth. Here they are in the parish death records (row numbers 9 and 12): Billeberga kyrkoarkiv, Födelse- och dopböcker, SE/LLA/13023/C I/6 (1835-1864), bildid: C0063837_00099 https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063837_00099 and in the household records: Billeberga kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/LLA/13023/A I/5 (1857-1866), bildid: C0063825_00017https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063825_00017. So your grandfather was named for his older brother and it seems his sister was named for their father's first wife.
I had no idea. I can't begin to tell you how much this means to me. Thank you again. I'm so excited to share this new information with my mother and her siblings.

God bless,

Phyllis
Feel free to say no and I will totally understand. I was just wondering if there are any records to Per or Bothilda's parents or even John's wife Anna? It seems most of the immediate family moved to the US. I would love to find relatives still there and connect with them if possible.
I can take a look through the books. Would you like me to add profiles for the people I find?
Absolutely feel free. If I have misinformation, feel free to change that as well. I really appreciate this!
You're welcome. It's fun to have a new family to look up!

Was there any information pertaining to Per or Bothilda's parents?

Also, is there anything concerning John's wife Anna? Her last name was Larson or Nelson/Nilsson. I think she was born in Varmland in Oct 22 1877 to Erick and Brita. I know she had at least two sisters Alma and Augusta. They did not immigrate with the Hansons. John and Anna met and married in Chicago in 1909.

If it's too much trouble, I will certain start researching myself in February. Thank you again!

I haven't gone through it all yet, but I will add what I for you.
These sources are now free of charge.
