project protected profiles

Ok.my anscestor John Hunnicutt was married to Elizabeth Warren many profiles exist for Elizabeth.I think one of them was project protected. My question is this:  Is only one profile project protected, or all profiles bearing the name protected. If not would all profiles be merged into the project protected profile. Would someone on the project do the merges or can anyone do them. Before I continue adding more of my family I want to get the procedure correct. Am I correct in that I would add the lowest profile to my tree, even if created by someone else.

Typically-- when all is working as it should-- the profile that is project protected is the lowest-numbered Last Name at Birth (LNAB) profile, and all dupes should be merged into that one.

Sometimes, a profile is protected before finding the lowest-numbered LNAB. Or there's conflict about which spelling or which last name... etc... in any case, the goal is to find the LNAB -- whatever the name or spelling-- and merge all dupes into THAT one.

Anyone can help by proposing or even completing merges; Your help is VERY much appreciated.

Thank you. I have also found profiles that have no info other than a name, can those profiles be merged based on only a name.

I left some notes on Warren-2056

The profiles with only a name you can do what you want, merge or ignore.

Concern yourself with the ones with contrary facts.

The good thing about merging in profiles which have nothing but a name is that it reduces overall clutter.
