To get help you must provide some information to work with.

You can search for Scottish births, deaths & marriages at ScotlandsPeople

Searches are FREE but to view the actual record/certificate you need to PAY, but costs are very reasonable.

Thank you, Vivian.  I was not aware of this resource.  I will try it.

More data about your grand mother is needed: Name, approx. date born, where did her parents live, etc.
As a general rule, Births, Deaths and Marriage were not required by the US Federal Government until 1909, some states started at earlier dates, but at lower enforcement. There were still births, deaths and marriages  after 1909 which were not recorded, most states started cataloging "Delate Birth Certificates" when Social Security was enacted which required proof of age. Otherwise, some churches record  births, deaths & marriages, which can be found in those records.

The problem is.... I do not know her maiden name.  Her given name was Mary Ann.  Her first husband was Samuel Coll.  She was probably born in Connecticut about 1798.  She probably married Samuel about 1814.  He died in 1821.  I know that they were in Howard Twp., Kent Co., Ontario, Canada at that time.  She married my two times great-grandfather, George B. Goudie in 1825...and they lived in Howard Twp, Kent Co., Ontario until 1842 when they went to DeWitt, Clinton Co., IA.  There is some evidence that she may have been a daughter of Lemuel Sherman.... but I have next to no information on him, either.  Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this family.
