Question

I am Confused  who Willian Eddys Parents were? were  they Mathew Eddy and Elizabeth George , Mathew  born 1748 /1816  Elizabeth George 1750/1856  or Catherine Richards or Catherine Edwards,  hope someone out  there can answer this Question . Richard Eddy 1823 is the son of William @Elizabeth , His Daughter Susan Ann Eddy, Married My GG Grandfather James Meredith ,In Helstron Cornwall 1869 .

Hi Jillian, I run the Eddy DNA project at Family Tree DNA. If you descend from an Eddy I suggest that you consider getting a autosomal DNA test. There are 3 labs that sell it, FTDNA as the Family Finder Test, Ancestry.com (only test they have now) and 23&Me.  I am suggesting to people who ask me, to test at Ancestry.com first and then once you get your results there transfer them to FTDNA where the project lives. This way you are fishing for relatives in 2 database pools.  One of the very cool things I have been able to do with my test is confirm with DNA matches, with the women in my family tree and which possible surname they might be. I had many women who had several possible surnames but no proof as to which it was. But with DNA I can search my matches by the ancestral surnames then go through my matches tree and see how we connect to that surname, and most cases connect my woman to her correct surname. This has help my tree's credibility as a prime source and reference tree that people can trust. William Eddy 1781 Sithney son of George Eddy and Catharine - parish records.

Parish records have George Eddy marry Catharine Edwards 1880.

But Phillimore has George Eddy marries Catharine Richards 1880.

Both do exist - Edwards 1753 and Richards 1756. But there seems to be only one George Eddy. I'd go with the parish records.

Following Martin's comments, (I'm sure he means 1780), Cornwall Parish Clerks do list two marriages for George Eddy - one to Catherine Richards and one to Catherine Edwards - both on October 4, 1780 and both in Sithney, Cornwall. The marriage to Catherine Edwards has 2 witnesses - Robert Edwards and William Pascoe. Like Martin, I would go for Catherine Edwards.

There are no apparent records (baptism or marriage) for any Mathew Eddy or Elizabeth George in Cornwall around that time.

George Eddy was baptised February 11, 1757 (in Breage, Cornwall) and was the son of George and Elizabeth. This may have caused the confusion with your Elizabeth George name.

William Eddy's baptism is listed as June 1, 1781 in Sithney and shows his parents as George and Catharine (note spelling). Also William's marriage May 18, 1812 in Sithney to Elizabeth Polmer (also note spelling).
