LOOKING FOR PROFF THAT THE ROBERT TOWNSEND THAT MARRIED SUSAN VAN DYKE IN 1877 CATSHILL NY, IS THE SAME ROBERT WHO IS THE SON OF JAMES & MARYANN TOWNSEND. HE WOULD BE MY G-GRAND FATHER, AN WAS BORN BETWEEN 1852 & 1859 IN EITHER CATSKILL NY OR SAUGERTIES NY.AN IN 1870S LIVING WITH THE VAN STEENBURGH FAMILY.FOR SOME REASON.CAN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO CONECT THE DOTS ON HIM.

Looking for any info on Robert Townsend born around 1852; and James Townsend born around 1827. Looking to see if this Robert is my g-grand father who married Susan Van Dyke in 1877 Catskill, NY. He was born either in Catskill NY or Saugerties NY. Any info on Robert and his father James would be very helpful.

Catskill is in Greene County, NY.

There's a Robert Townsend, b abt 1853 in Halcott, Greene Co., NY in the 1860 census, but it looks like his father is William, not James. The parents are from Pennsylvania; the children all born NY:
