Like us, Halloween has a long and rich history. This year, we decided to see what it would look like if Halloween took a DNA test.

There’s a lot more to Halloween than just candy and costumes! This spooky holiday has a long history, as well as a rich ethnic background. That got us thinking – if Halloween were to take a DNA test, what would the results look like?

Of course, because we are not official Halloween historians, these numbers are just for fun and our best guess at what the results would be.

In my country, Halloween was not celebrated, we had All Saints and All Souls days in the church calendar, but no trick or treat, no kids dressed up in costumes, but about 5 years ago, it begin to seep into our culture, it seems to be a very invasive DNA running amok over the native DNA.
I agree. Where I am in Australia it has only turned up in the last 15 years or so, being promoted by retailers. Before that it was only something from American movies or TV.  All Saints Day and All Souls Day yes we have them, but not this celebration of all things goulish. I find it sad to see the local kids embracing this event.

In England in the old days, children used to beg for copper coins, not candy.  When I first went to the Caymans in 1975, children their were looking for copper coins, but when I returned children in 1981, they were converted to candy and other sweet treats.  Is that a DNA mutation or something else?

That's the trick or treat part.

Growing up in Nassau, Bahamas I learned “Trick or Treat, money or wheat“ and it was not unusual to get money.
