I listed my sources as a bulleted list.  When I did a preview it looked just fine but when I went back to my grandfather's profile the sources just wrapped around as thoough it were a paragraph.  So I went backk and put an extra return between each source.  Again the review looked just fine.  The actual profile not so much.  I've played with this thing all afternoon.  I even went so far as to create a guest account for my husband and then signed on to his computer with his guest account.  It still wraps around.  PLEASE somebody help me.

Lovely profile. My only suggestion would be to remove references to "my grandfather" and "my grandmother" since profiles, once created on wikitree are no longer "ours" but belong to the broader community/system. Therefore, relative statements are no longer appropriate.

I agree with others that this is a profile worthy of nomination for Profile of the Week. Nice work.

I had no idea we weren't supposed to do that.  I will clean it up later today when I have a little time.  And also one other profile I have written the biography for.  I very much appreciate your pointing this out to me before I had a bunch to correct.  Thank you again.

Hi Judy,

First, may I say that it is a beautiful profile!  :-)

To respond to the issue - when I do a bulleted source, I don't indent and everything lines up correctly.  Could that make a difference?

Yes, that was exactly the problem.  And thank you for your compliment on my grandfather's profile.
You're very welcome, thank you for the follow up!  :-)

Hi Judy,

What a great profile!

It looks like the bullet points weren't lining up due to the indentations and the lack of a header for the sources section. I hope you don't mind, but I went in and fixed it up. Take a look and let me know if it looks better to you. (You may need to refresh the page in your browser.)

Thanks Erin, I wanted to change the indents, but was afraid to accidently erase something and mess up her work.  :-P
Another compliment.  I better watch that my head doesn't swell up!

Seriously, I appreciate the repair job.  This was only my second biography (the first being my father, Goodman-2026, if you have time for a review/critique).  Anyway, I now have a more complete understanding of how Wikitree handles bulitted lists and I can thank you ladies for that.

I'm a real Wikitree newbie and appreciate these "teachable moments".

Hi Judy Wardlow

I just viewed your sources in WikiTree edit-mode to discover that you are using leading "spaces" to indent the list. I suspect this is the problem.

There is an easy fix!

1. Where you have entered, "[space][space][space][space][space]*" (without the quotes), you can just delete each of the spaces.

This will allow the leading character for each listed entry to be an asterisk.

In my experience, when the WikiTree system  reads the asterisk, it knows to create that entry as an indented, bulletied list.

2. Here's a helpful WikiTree cheat sheet that covers the technical aspects of creating "Lists." See "Editing Tips," at  http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Editing_Tips#Indenting_Text

3. If you'd like to use "edit mode" to view a profile that has applied this particular bulleted list technique, take a look at Sarah (Worchester) Sanborn/Worchester-10 http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Worcester-10

Hope this helps.

Gene, thank you for providing the links to help me with lists like I was using for my sources.  This was only my second biography -- see my comment above.  It's obvious I have a lot to learn.  I really appreciate your taking the time to help me.
I'm glad the information was helpful.

Like you, I'm new to the WikiTree biography tools. We are no doubt, not alone.

I keep "Editing Tips" bookmarked; frequently have it open as I work through the process.

Thank you for your work on WikiTree, Judy.--GeneJ

I agree this could be entered in in Profile of the Week contest soon, the only problem is you are not useing < Ref> tags in the text to denote which facts the sources refer to. The sources help page, covers the basics the footnotes help page also gives an idea of how to do it.

If you need help with this please feel free to contact me.
