I incorrectly selected a wrong existing profile- how do I disconnect that erroneous profile?

The other questions don't seem to provide the solution I need. I added Candace Carpenter, my 4th greatgrandmother - but I accidentally added an existing profile that belongs to a different person.  I can't find a way to delete or change this.  How do I "unconnect" Candace Carpenter from this other profile, that now has wrong parentage and marriage information.  Thanks Marge Bare

If you did not change anything on her profile, just disconnect the connections - go to edit tab and on the right will be those connected to her and under the list of each type of connection there is an edit link that will allow you to disconnect - then either make a new profile or connect to the correct existing profile as you had intended

What is the other profile and Is there another profile manager. If there is another manager, try contacting first. They might help you untangle this

There is NO other profile - just the one Carpenter-2975 that should NOT be my Candace Carpenter. My fault - this should NOT be so difficult to correct!
How do I correct it?

I don't know which you want to remove, but go to the Edit tab, and along the side there are Edit Family controls. Each of those has an add/remove control, so just select that and it will give you some controls to remove whatever it is you're removing. Mistaken connections happen a lot, and it's not a big deal to remove.

Yes I went there but there is NO way to fix the error I made. I guess I'm not being clear - I have Candace Carpenter who is my 4th great grandmother. When I added her for the first time, I saw a profile that I thought matched, but its a different Candace Carpenter. I have attached the WRONG profile Carpenter-2975 who has different parents and siblings and is a different person!  So I need to remove the connection to that Carpenter-2975 so that I can add my Candace Carpenter's information with her own ID.

I assume if I 'remove father and mother" etc that will then revise profile Carpenter-2975, which I don't want to do.

Please help.
So what you're saying is that all the children and spouses listed on Carpenter-2975 are incorrect? Or are some of them correct, and others not? The remove option will fix that. Just remove all of the ones that shouldn't be on there, and after that, you can create a new Candace Carpenter.
NO! I'm saying that's a different Candace Carpenter so 2975 has all the correct information, I assume, for that Candace Carpenter. But its not the same person as my relative so I should not have selected it as the ID for my relative. Never mind, I finally found a way to fix it I think, after waaaaaay too long.
What we don't know is who you think it is thatk you attached her to. I could fix it, but I don't know who it is you need to remove. I don't actually see any record of you connecting anyone to this profile, but I see you removing two parents, so I can't tell what you need to do.
Maybe you mean you accidentally disconnected those two parents because you thought Carpenter-2975 was someone else?
It appears that some of the dates and locations were changed before the parents were removed.  Could the profile just be restored to what it was in Oct 2016?
Look I don't understand why I'm not being clear. I don't want to make any changes to Carpenter-2975.  so yes, please change it back to whatever it was before today.  That is NOT my relative and I have no idea what her information should be.

I have a relative with the same name, and I should NOT have selected that 2975 when I was entering my Candace Carpenter. I thought I found a solution to correct this, but it didn't work after all.

Every time I try to make a change, it changes 2975, which is not my intent.  That's the only edits I can see.

Let's try this a different way, how do I delete Carpenter-2975 from my tree entirely?
Marge, the problem is that we don't know what "my tree" means. Could you say explicitly what person she's attached to that she shouldn't be attached to. In order to be connected, there are two profiles. One of them is Carpenter-2975, so what's the other one?
Marge, on your tree, who is the last CORRECT ancestor?
It looks to me like what you actually did was detach the correct parents without adding anything. I dug up the original source (and cleaned up the merge that no one bothered to finish) and Hezkiah should be her father, so I'll go ahead and put him back.
I fixed it on my own. Never mind
The next issue us Aldrich-1135, the former mother. She's listed as being married to two different Hezekiah Carpenters. She's not given in the source for Carpenter-2975, so it's not clear that she should really be there (my guess is not).

Oh, oops.  I just added her back as she was removed by Marge.  blush

The dates for both birth and death will still need to be changed as well as location of death.
Yeah, there are two different Hezekiahs. Johanna Aldrich married the one born in 1725, not the one born in 1736. That's what's messed up.

I think the mother and father came about by way of the brother Uriah.

No, sorry I meant the dates for Candace. Her birth, death and death location were changed by Marge and will still need correction.
I'm just following what the source says., I think Johanna Aldrich still has some children that she shouldn't, but I disconnected the incorrect Hezekiah Carpenter.

I'm-a gonna leave it all to you, now.  Too many cooks and all that.  Besides, you're doing a sterling job!  yes

OK, I think I've got the whole mess deconvolved.
Added warnings to the two Hezekiah Carpenters. I think we ought to get rid of this convenience feature that adds people as groups by default too. I don't know how much time I've wasted on here undoing inadvertent group connections.
OK, I think I've got the whole mess deconvolved.

Wonderful! yes

I had something like 5 different tabs open and still was lost.

It turns out there were two separate issues, the confusion with Marge and then a preexisting mistake where someone didn't bother reading the sources and decided that the two Hezekiahs were the same person, connecting one Hezekiah's wife to the other Hezekiah. Of course, it would help checking sources if people would put the page numbers in their source citations, as I'm sure we all learned in high school comp class.
