This is what I have on Ancestry for Jane Worthington.  I clearly made a mistake that I don't want to transfer over to Wikitree.  If anyone can help me sort things out, I'd appreciate it:

Yeah, I’d say there’s a problem with all of this. Good start: you’ve got the parents’ profiles up. I would not transfer any of these children over to WikiTree.... yet (see below). There is far too much overlap for all of them to have been children of the parents you’ve profiled, and the date range is far to wide. Fifty-seven years of having children!

Go back to the sources and enter only those children for which you can find sources. You already have several sources (census records) listed on Jane’s profile, so there's a good start. If you think there might be, for good reason, other children, you can put them in research notes for the parents and the reason for thinking so.

That’s just how I’d do it. Someone else may be along here who will, more than likely, give you a better way to handle this.

Hi Scott!  Don't worry, you are in an ideal situation now to set the record straight.  As you are building the profile for Jane and her family, include facts with solid sources.  Don't include anything you don't have a solid source for.  That way, your WikiTree info will be solid.  Then if you like, go back to your Ancestry tree and disconnect the items you no longer believe in, or edit the relationships to what you now know.

I use my Ancestry trees as a sandbox/desktop to assemble hints, and then only put the verifiable sourced info on WikiTree.  I have a disclaimer on my Ancestry trees to that effect.  I have lots of bits of trees that aren't my ancestors, built in the process of determining that they aren't my ancestors, just people with similar names, dates, and places that have been disconnected (using the 'edit relationships' button) after i had a chance to review, as you are doing now.

Fixing the Ancestry trees is a bit of a 3 step operation: decide what you want to keep, then delete or disconnect the other people, then Remove the sources that no longer are relevant.

I'm not sure that really was what you were looking for, but having glanced at your work on Jane's line in WikiTree, it seems that you are on the right track.
