I would like to propose one consistent method for maiden names in profiles.

There seems to be no control from this end as to how a maiden name is listed on profiles. I much much much prefer the Minerva A (Isbell) Latham format than the Minerva A Latham, formerly Isbell format. Or at minimum make them all the same. Is that possible?

There is a mixture of how a maiden name is listed on profiles. It can be Minerva A Latham, formerly Isbell for example. This is how a profile I just worked on listed the wife's maiden name: Husband of .

WikiTree's name entry and display setup is absolutely its weakest feature. The biggest problem is that it is so highly Anglo-centric it's not even funny. (There is no possible method by which a Hungarian married name can be shoehorned into it, for example.)

Fortunately, proper genealogies only use maiden names anyway, so some of the nonsense can be sidestepped by simply leaving everything blank except for the (badly-labeled) "first name at birth" and "last name at birth" fields.

Yes, and I wish people would stop adding a married name when its was left out without knowing whether the woman changed her name.  I've had to undo a few where a name change was not made when married. This isn't the default everywhere.

When you are looking at the wife's profile with Current name that is different than LNAB Last Name at Birth field, then you see the 'formerly' with LNAB and 'aka', with all 'Other last names'

When you are looking at the husband's profile, it shows the maiden name in parentheses, but it doesn't show any of the 'other last names'

It would be nice to see the 'other last names' when you are looking at the husband's profile, but I suspect they are not shown because of having to include all of the marriage info and they run out of room, trying to keep it at one line, if possible.

I think it is consistent, depending on where you are looking at it. It might be nice if the maiden LNAB was included in parentheses when seen on the wife's profile.  They might not need the 'formerly' wording
