Peter I was unable to locate Thomas Whelan who died in Campbelltown NSW in 1862. If you could supply his parents or other information I will look again for you.

In the 1860s in NSW there were two Thomas's one who died  Brisbane Waters and the other in Redfern.  A Thomas Whelan was taken into custody for his protection in the 1860s.

Hello Rionn back again. As you can see I don't monitor Wikitree very often. Family talk was that his correct name was Phelan, b1809, not 1816. He arrived with his brother Bryan, both as convicts 1829, on the Eliza. All the kids were Whelan, Whalin, Whalan etc, etc. He lived all his life as Whelan, buried as Welan. A Canberra researcher has since proven the name as Phelan which we suspected all along after my g'father made two trips to Ireland to sort this out, unfortunately no verbal or written account of those trips has existed in my lifetime.
