William Mace Jr and the American Civil War [closed]

Hail!

This week I'm working on filling in a few husbands and children for an ancestor of mine named Patty/Martha Smart. I came across a half-brother for my 3x great-grandfather, Jeremiah. It seems he served in the Civil War. Specifically at the battle of the White Oak Swamp. Can someone help me verify this as fact as I can't seem to find sources. It's said that he died at the battle on July 26th, 1862.

I looked up the battle on Wikipedia and it happened in June of that year. So, it seems more likely that he died of injuries sustained in the battle. I'm not sure what's going on. That's why I need some help clearing up William Mace's Civil War record. Once that's done I'll add the necessary categories and info boxes. Any help would be appreciated.

I found sources on Ancestry. Just not on Familysearch.

Profile is spruced up a bit more with the odds and ends I found at fold3. Thanks again, Harry!
Chris there are bits and pieces all over the place. Do you know what state he registered in? do you know  what company and Battalion he was assigned to? If you  need any more help or time on Fold3 Just ask.
Well, now I do thanks to Fold3.

He registered in Massachusetts with the 19th Massachusetts Infantry. He died at the Battle of the White Oak Swamp.

His widow's pension file is available on Fold3 starting here. It's free at least through 15 April, so check soon! He was killed in action on 30 June. The file includes a certified copy of the marriage record, etc.

Civil War Soldier with Co A, 141st Regt, PA Vol Inf; Co B, 24th Regt, Vet Res Corps as CPL

"For further information on this soldier of the 141st, or historical facts of the 141st, please contact Kurt Lafy at author141stpvi@yahoo.com"

William's death certificate states that he died on 22 Jan 1912 aged 71 years, 1 month and 28 days. That would make his birth date 25 Nov 1840, but the death certificate lists his birth date as 20 Jan 1841. It correctly lists his father as Isaac Mace, but lists his wife Ellen Oliphant as his mother. The informant was his son, Grant Mace.

Umm.....I think you got the wrong Mace, buddy. George's son, Charles died April 5th, 1911. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/183038234

Oops sorry about that.  Eye are getting to weak to do this much.  LOL
It's okay. Don't worry about it! =D
