Just gained access to an already-entered file that posts last name wrong. how do I change it?

Just asked for and gained editing privileges for the profiles of the Rev. George Irvin Jr. family.  His wife is listed as Isibel Irvin.  I was able to change her first name to Isabelle but do not know how to change her last name to Garver Ruse (Garver being her birth name and Ruse her first married name).  Does anyone know how to do that?

On the edit page, there is a line labeled Last Name at Birth with a little edit beside it. Click that edit and change the maiden name.

Back at the edit page, there is a line labeled Current Last Name. This is the place to put her married name. Then save changes.

There in my problem lies...

I can get to the edit page.  I see all the data in little outlined boxes that let me make whatever changes I want.  EXCEPT for the Last Name at Birth field.  the name Irvin is not in a text box so i cannot edit it.  There is a little "?" but clicking that just opens a page of definitions.  There is no "edit" that I can find.

Am I a dufus?  LOL

Hi Bonnie,

You were able to edit because the privacy setting is "open" which allows wiki genealogists to contribute.  To change the LNAB or to add photos, you need to be on the trusted list.  You can either send a private message to the profile manager or else click on the "request trusted list" access on the profile.  :-)

I think I made a mistake assuming that being on the trusted list means you can edit a line, but I am thinking now it is just for the one person.  I am new to this.  I will see who the manager is for Isabelle.  I requested to be added to the list for her husband, not her.  That must be why I cannot change it.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.  I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Bonnie, you are not doing anything wrong.  For more detailed information on profile managers, trusted list access and privacy settings, just look through the topics in the help index or ask for assistance here on the feed.  You can ask any profile manager to bulk list you for ancestors and descendants of a particular line.  Any profile that is set to the open privacy setting can be edited by a wikitree volunteer, but it is always courteous to make contact with the listed profile manager for conflicting information.
