For my job at Esquire magazine, I interviewed Daniel Radcliffe on Friday. He's the British actor most famous for playing Harry Potter.
I showed Daniel how the Wikitree community worked on his genealogy, and has been able to connect him to the Big Wikitree Family Tree, and that he and I are officially (distant) cousins. He loved it! He said the word "wow" several times. He's psyched about the Global Family Reunion. He wants to come, though it depends on whether he's in NY or London (he lives in both places). I did videotape him inviting people to the GFR, which I will post soon.
He was delighted he's related to the poet Allen Ginbserg (a hero of his, and he played him in the movie Kill Your Darlings). We talked about his heritage for a long time -- how he's a mix of Irish, Jewish and South African, and that he's proud to be, in his words, "a mutt." He said he hopes he's related to Paula Radcliffe, who was a famous British runner, because he loves running.
Also, he asked if he is related to Tom Brady (he's a big American football fan) and I said I'm sure he is, but we don't have a link yet. That was remedied today when Wikitree-er David Zuckerman tracked how Tom Brady and Daniel are related.
THANK YOU AGAIN to the Global Family Reunion Wiki team and everyone else for making it all possible.
