I have Starlings from Cavendish back to 1680 (Joseph), and would love to find more.

Is Joseph the ancestor of Ann Starling (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Starling-1132)? Would you be able to add you additional information about Joseph's family and I'll see if I can get a link.

Have you seen the work we've done on these pages:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Starling_family_in_the_East_Anglia_Hearth_Tax#Suffolk

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:History_of_the_Starling_Name

The nearest match is in Beyton - do you have any links there?

Since you are researching the Starling family, I would like to ask you to join the Starling Name Study at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Starling_Name_Study

I have Starlings mentioned in the will of John Dister. Robert Starling is related by marriage and has a son Richard. I believe they may have been from Essex or Suffolk.

Ann

Thanks for replying Ann. I can't quite work out from his profile what the Suffolk connection is. Do you know where in Suffolk there were from?
Not sure exactly. Trying to find them but they are mentioned in a Will, possibly Bury but they could be near Lavenham or Colchester in Essex or even London. If I find out definitely will let you know.

Sorry it’s a bit vague, was hoping you might have a clue. These starlings would be wealthy, possibly connected with Sir Samuel Starling who may be a descendant/ related.

Regards,

Ann

I have added the Suffolk, Starling Name Study category to the profile of [[Starling-1426|Abraham Starling (bef.1818-bef.1861)]] as he may be of interest to your study. (No relation of mine - had just been working on his family.) Abraham was with the 12th regiment of foot. He was born in Suffolk, married in Northamptonshire, and produced little Starlings in Ireland and Australia. smiley
