Shared Photo: Francis A Burrows abt 1861

A user on Reddit scanned and posted this photo after buying it (likely at an antiques store). After some sleuthing, they figured out who it was - Francis Burrows of South Carolina. They are now looking to return it to a descendant, and it would be super cool if WT helped to do that! Link to thread.

What a lovely picture and a very interesting man. I read that he joined up to serve his country in the war, and this picture was in taken in 1861. I wonder if this was taken before he went to serve?

He was a very handsome man. I love his mustache, and the chair he is leaning on. The beautiful carpet and the oversized drapes.

They sure did have wonderful photographs back in those days.

What a fine photo - when I saw it I thought, "Civil War era," and only after did I look at the date.  

It would be really cool if they could match it to his descendants.
