MIR on the McClendon duplications

I did take the recommendation to file an MIR and went there and read and read and read .... I expected something along the line of a space like this, where I could outline my concerns, and someone with clout would step in and deal with the two PM who have been creating -- each to his or her own -- duplicate profiles

Since I'd already outlined the problem, far too many duplicated profiles I'm at a standstill now, no form to fill in. I did look.

It is happening now. It's going to be hard to fix later, this is two separate PM who have by some strange quirk, been profiling duplicates. Six and counting.

I was directed by the directions to Emergency Block. Step one is to googlegroups (doesn't someone with clout want to TALK TO THEM first??), and step two is to file a MIR (well, I'm TRYING TO, PEOPLE) BUT THIS merely sends me back to the beginning and I'm tired of going in circles, people.

So, I abandon this. I have attempted the MIR and can't figure out how to do it. I have advised the people with clout, or so I thought, that there was this problem.  I am defeated. I give up.

If you want to examine it, type in the surname McClendon, and then once there, click on ALPHA ORDER and then look for the duplicated profiles .... Agnes(s), Emily, George B, George Bryant, Joseph R, Millie / Milly, ...

OF course, eventually, sometime during the next five years or so, someone will sort this out with these profiles if not with the two PM. I take comfort from that.

Hi, Susan --

I'm taking a look at this right now. There is a family that has been duplicated, but the duplicates were created in 2018. They are all approved for merging, so I'm putting them through now.

In the future, if you find someone creating duplicates, it's OK to contact them to let them know. They're probably doing so unintentionally, and the best thing to do is give them a "heads up." If that doesn't work, or they reply in anger, you just have to walk through the questions on Problems with Members (on the Help menu) ... take it a step at a time. If you get to the point where you feel like an MIR is necessary, there are several links on the questionnaire. If you go there now, just use Ctl-F to look for "Mentor Intervention Request."

You have to click through to the MIR form, edit the URL in the address bar of the browser and replace WikiTree-1 with whatever the member's Profile ID is, press enter, and then fill out the form. Otherwise, it won't be submitted with the correct identifier for the person who is struggling.

Hope this helps. :-)
