Although Crawfurd and others have linked Elizabeth to William Hamilton and Margaret Baillie as parents,[6][5] she was much too young to be their daughter and is instead, their great-granddaughter. Where Crawfurd claims she was the aunt o f Gavin Hamilton, others claims she was his daughter.[1][3][4]
