Biography

Elizabeth (Hamilton) Mure is a member of Clan Hamilton.

Elizabeth Hamilton was the daughter of Gavin Hamilton^[1][2][3][4] and Margaret Hamilton.

She married William Mure of Glanderstoun.^[5][6]

They were parents of one son and three daughters.

1. Janet, m. John Pollock of that ilk^[2][3][4][6]
2. William, heir to Glanderston.^[2][3][4][6]
3. Jean, m. George Maxwell of Aldhouse^[2][6]
4. Margaret, m. William Hamilton of Duncarnock^[6]

Research Notes

Note that the first daughter Janet is not cited by The Peerage. More research required here.

Although Crawfurd and others have linked Elizabeth to William Hamilton and Margaret Baillie as parents,^[6][5] she was much too young to be their daughter and is instead, their great-granddaughter. Where Crawfurd claims she was the aunt o f Gavin Hamilton, others claims she was his daughter.^[1][3][4]
