Private Francis McCraw Jr. served with 6th Virginia Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Francis McCraw Jr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A075836.

Francis McCraw was born May 9, 1760 in Powhatan County, Virginia. He was the son of Francis McCraw and Mary Woodson.

On February 7, 1795 he married Mary Harrison Word in Cumberland County, Virginia , the daughter of Lockey Molly Harrison and Thomas Word.[1]

  4. Cary Harrison McCraw
  5. Nancy Ann Word McCraw
  6. Francis Dancy McCraw
  7. Miller Woodson McCraw

Before Francis enlisted in the Revolutionary War, he was sent to England to study for the Anglican priesthood; but he returned to Buckingham County and became a lawyer instead.

Francis participated in the American Revolutionary War. He was a Private in the Company commanded by Captain Jesse Woodson of the Regiment commanded by Col. Josiah Parker in Virginia for a period of two years. [2][3] His certificate of pension was issued June 28, 1833. [3]

He passed away September 24, 1834 in Buckingham County, Virginia.
