There appears to be no birth record for Mary Pierce daughter of Capt Michael Pierce. She is not found in Hobart's Journal, Lincoln's History of Hingham nor the 1893 History of the Town of Hingham. However, she does appear in her father's will (see his profile).[1] She is a direct ancestor of President William Taft.
She married Samuel Holbrook 23 Jun 1675 at Medfield, Norfolk, Massachusetts and had Persis in 1676[2][3]
Mary Holbrook was a slaveholder. She inherited a black woman named Durance from her husband Samuel.[4]
She passed away 26 Apr 1735 in Scituate, Massachusetts.[5]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
The birth date is for a Mary Pearce who married Thomas Brownell. She was probably the daughter of Richard Pearce, who was not related to Michael Pierce. Someone has mixed the two Marys. Mary Pierce Holbrook was left 20 lbs in Captain Michael's will.
Roland, no headstone at Find-a-Grave nor any documentation. See this link in History of the Town of Hingham https://archive.org/details/historytownhing02seymgoog/page/n104 which lists the children of Capt Michael Pierce that are named in his will and Mary is not there. UPDATE: She is listed in the Will transcription on Michael's profile by her married named. I've read that Hingham records are a 'mess' with no central repository and they've never been transcribed into a single vital records publication so I think her birth year is probably an estimate due to lack of birth record but she does appear to be Michael's daughter.
