"Mezzotint of Rev. Selwyn D.D. standing by a table wearing a dark suit. His right hand is holding a book which is resting on the table. Backdrop shows ballistrades of a porch / balcony with tress and cleared land beyond. Written just below the image: 'Painted by George Richmond / Published for the Proprietor the Rev. D. Edward Coleridge Nov 21st 1842. / Engraved by Samuel Cousins A.R.A.' Printed below this is more text - some of which is torn away '...USTUS SELWYN, D.D. / ...New Zealand / ...ct.r 17th 1841'. Has 'Mrs Medley / (156) 1 1/2 oak gilt birket & ?' handwritten in pencil on the rear. In quite poor condition - significant piece missing along lower left edge, permanent crease along the middle where it has been folded in half. Large tear upper left edge. General discolouration."
