This photo taken by me in June 2021 at the Old Dutch Church in Kingston, NY. One of the ministers, Robert Sweeney, who is also a descendent of A.R. said important church records were kept in the chest. Typically it was chained to the floor. When the church felt threatened by neighboring tribes such as the Esopus (1663) or the British (1777), they would unlock the chain and remove the chest for save keeping.
