Biography

Joseph Adams (1826-1870) was born in Chester, Cheshire about 1826 and christened in Shotwick, Cheshire on the 29th March 1826. He was the son of James Adams & Mary Webster. ^[1]

By 1841, he is living with his family on Northgate Street, Chester. ^[2]

He was working as a porter and gave an address of Crosshall Street, Liverpool when he married Eliza Kendrick at St Peter, Liverpool on the 19th February 1849 ^{[3] [4]} but in actuality still lived on Northgate Street in Chester and it was there that their daughter Martha was born a few months later. ^{[5] [6]}

They stayed in Chester until at least 1856 (as shown by various children's baptisms) and he was working as a labourer. After that he may have struggled to find work locally so they went to Bromborough where according to baptism records, he found work as a cook then back labouring.

Joseph died in Bromborough in December 1870 ^[7] and was buried in the churchyard at Brombrough on the 20th December. ^[8]
