Biography

John Adams (1820-1898) was born in Chester in 1820. ^[1] He was the son of James Adams and Mary Webster. He was christened at St Michael in Shotwick, Cheshire on the 21st March 1820. ^[2]

He married Jane Fryar in Chester in 1845 ^[3] and they settled in Chester where John was employed as a baker. The couple lived on Northgate Street in 1851 by which time they had 2 young children ^[1] adding a further 3 before the 1861 census. ^[4]

By 1871 another 3 children had joined them but John was unemployed and they had moved into Lion Yard off Crook Street in Chester. ^[5]

By 1881 John was living and once again working away from home as a baker for a grocer in the village of Tattenhall, Cheshire. (He was not widowed as the record states, his wife and children were back in Chester) ^[6]

In 1891 John is back with the family and they lived on Spital Place, Chester. ^[7]

He died on the 9th October 1898 ^[8] and was buried in Overleigh Old Cemetery, Chester on the 13th October 1898. ^{[9] [10]}
