Biography

Peter Adams Jr., Deacon, son of Peter Adams and Rachel Newcomb, was born Apr 1653 in Medfield, Suffolk [now Norfolk] County, Massachusetts.[1]

He was 23 and still single on 21 Feb 1675/6 when the Indians made a surprise attacked, during the general uprising known as King Philips War, burning the family home and others and killing townsfolk.

He married [age 26] in Medfield 27 May 1680 Experience Cooke.[2]

He settled on west side of Charles River, the area of Medfield that became Medway in 1713 and Millis in 1885. He officially inherited the land when his father died in 1690.

He was prominent in the organization of Medway and was one of first deacons of the church and his wife was paid for keeping school.[3]

Peter died [age 70] in Medway [Millis] 8 Dec 1723. He is buried in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, Massasschetts.[4][5]


Peter Adams and Experience Cooke had the following children in Medfield, Suffolk, Massachusetts..[6]

  1. RACHELL ADAMS was born on 01 Feb 1681. She died in 1758. She married Samuel Hill on 29 Mar 1706 in Medfield. He was born about 1682. He died on 02 Mar 1755 in Medway, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
  2. EXPERIENCE ADAMS was born on Jan 1683. She died on 07 Feb 1683 in Medfield.
  3. PETER ADAMS was born on 09 May 1684. He married Sarah Hill on 09 Jul 1710 in Wrentham, Suffolk, MA. She was born in 1684. She died on 20 Apr 1747 in Wrentham.
  4. JOSEPH ADAMS was born on 01 Sep 1687. He died in 1755 in Medfield. Note: Perhaps m. Mary (???). He inherited the homestead in Medway, Mass., and gave it to his sister's son, Nathan Daniels, "whom he had brought up from a child." He d., according to Tilden, in 1755.
  5. CATHERINE ADAMS was born on Dec 1689. She married JOSEPH ELLIS.
  6. EBENEZER ADAMS was born in Aug 1693.
  7. EXPERIANCE ADAMS was born on 02 Mar 1696. She died on 28 Mar 1731 in Medway, Suffolk, MA. She married Samuel Daniell on 06 Dec 1718. He was born on 25 Dec 1693. He died in 1789.
  8. GEORGE ADAMS was born on 16 Jan 1699. He married Sarah Partridge (daughter of John Partridge and Elizabeth Adams) on 13 Mar 1723 in Medway, Suffolk, MA. She was born in 1702.
