Biography
Lonida A. Aikens was born July 4, 1926 to Hooper Aikens and Eston Yarbrough in Chambers County, Alabama.[1]
She married Philip Theodore Brooks on October 20, 944 in West Point, Georgia. Their children were:
- Hershal Lamar Brooks
She died, at the age of 86, September 23, 2012 in Valley, Alabama.[2] She is buried at the Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church Cemetery, Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama.[3]
Obituary:
Mrs. Lonida Brooks, 86, of Valley died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at George H. Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.
Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. CDT at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette with the Revs. Floyd Aikens and Don Downs officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Stand Congregational Church Cemetery in Wedowee.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by four children, three brothers, a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Born in Langdale on July 4, 1926, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late Hooper Aikens and Eston Yarbrough Aikens. She was an active member of West End Baptist Church, and she was a retired textile employee.
