Parentage
Parents listed as Robert AKERS (1771 – 1838) and Nancy HANKS (1769 – 1835) at Find a Grave Site.[6]
Tombstone stated that Robert AKERS had a wife named Nancy.
John Wesley AKERS was appointed to be the executor of his father's will[2] at the time of his death. His father, Robert AKERS listed him as one of five sons, but the only other named in the will was his youngest son, Wilson Lee AKERS. In his will, Robert listed John as "my beloved son J. Wesley Akers". The will was written on 29 October 1838 and proven in court on 12 January 1839. No mention was made of Robert's wife in his will. It is thought that she died prior to the will. The burial memorial - Find A Grave: Memorial #58979038 - of Robert AKERS has a transcription of the stone which stated Nancy died on 17 June 1835. But the actual picture of the stone is very difficult to read and it is unknown at this time if it was a transcription done at the grave at the time the picture was taken or if the information was obtained from a previous transcription, burial records or another source entirely.
