Lewis Akins was born in 1794, in Pendleton, Anderson, South Carolina, United States, his father, Ezekiel Aiken, was 34 and his mother, Sarah Elizabeth McCravey, was 34. He married Luvicia "Vica" Nicholson about 1820, in North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 10 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Georgia, United States in 1870 and District 1162, Union, Georgia, United States in 1880. He died on 29 December 1887, in Union, Georgia, United States, at the age of 93.
Lewis Akins was enumerated at Rose Hill Post Office, Union County, Georgia for the July 20, United States Census, 1860. He was noted as born 1799 in South Carolina. He was noted as a farmer and had $1550 in value of real estate and $600 in value of personal estate as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are female Vicey Akins, male Maulding Akins and male Cifford P Akins.[2]
Lewis Akins was listed as the father of Polk Akins who died December 31, 1940 in Farmersville, Collin County, Texas. The mother was listed as Nicholson.[6]
