George Amos was born in South Australia, Australia

George Albert Amos was born 8 January 1911 in Wallaroo, South Australia. He was the son of John Amos and Rachel Clayton. [1]

He was baptised 5 March 1911 at the Wallaroo Anglican Church, the same day as his sister Rachel. [2]

In 1917 he was enrolled in Sturt Street School. [3]

He married Marjorie Gloria George on 9 June 1934 at the Registry Office, Adelaide. [4]

In 1935 West Adelaide United joined the South Australian Amateur Football League. George and his brother Arthur played for West Adelaide, his mother Rachel and brother Jack were also involved with the club. Every week George was reported as a leading goal kicker, and in 1935 he was selected to play in the team to represent South Australia against Victoria. [5]

George (Skeet) Amos passed away age 28 (from pulmonary tuberculosis) on 10 April 1939 [6] and was buried in West Terrace Cemetery. [7] [8]

Memorial to George Amos to be Unveiled.
A memorial tombstone will be unveiled on the grave of George Amos, in West Terrace Cemetery at 10.30 a.m. tomorrow. Amos was a prominent player for West Adelaide in the Amateur League, and the memorial has been subscribed for by supporters of football in West Adelaide. [10]
