Mr. Bennie J. Ancarrow, 70 of Richmond, died Friday, February 19, 1991. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Kane Ancarrow, three daughters, Carolyn "Ducky" Dunkum, Brenda Jane Conway, Betty Sue Tomas; a sister, Eunice "Susie" Douglas of Richmond; two brothers, Robert C. Ancarrow of Richmond, Willie A. Ancarrow of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., six grandsons, two grand daughters, two great grand daughters, three son-in-laws, Eddie Dunkum, Eddie Conway, Melvin Tomes, Jr. Mr. Ancarrow known by many as "oyster man" was a retired employee of DuPont with over 32 years of service and a Army veteran of World War II as well as a POW in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 144, the Sandston VFW #8529 and Moose Lodge #1937. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 Laburnum Avenue where the family will receive friends 1:00 - 3:00 and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and where services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday. Internment Washington Memorial Park. Published in the Richmond Times Dispatch February 21, 1991.
