Subject of the story on Page 6 of The White Fence newsletter[1] that details the circumstances of his death in July 1870, and that of a crew member when his ship ran aground outside Saint John. His body was recovered the following October, as reported in this article which appeared in the Saint John Daily Telegraph on October 14 1870:[2]
The Telegraph and Journal published a description of the remains found by Capt. Stewart of the Jeff Davis, floating off Grand Manan and which were buried on the Island. The Sackville Post copies the description remarking - "By the description above given, the remains found are recognized by his friends as those of the late Capt. Anderson who was drowned when the schr. Bella was lost a few weeks since off Cape Spencer."
Presumably, his remains were transferred to Sackville for reburial, as that is where his monument is.[3]
