James Blacklock Anderson was born in 1879, the son of Charles Bergdahl Anderson (1815–1902), a Swedish immigrant, and Mary Ann Nealy Mapes (1835–1901), born in New York.[1] He registered for the draft on September 12, 1918. His draft card described as being a man of medium height and build with blue eyes and light brown hair.[2] His siblings included:
