Biography

Gladys was born in Sparta, Michigan in 1904, the daughter of James Anderson and Crystal English. Gladys had four siblings:

1. Lyle Edward (1906-1983)
2. James Carlton (1908-1985)
3. Willis Leroy (1912-1990)
4. James, Jr. (1919-1919)

She married late. In 1940, Mary was working as a live-in maid for the Remien family in East Grand Rapids.^[1] She married Peter Steensma (1903-1981) in Grand Rapids in 1954. He had been married before, to Bessie Weeda, marrying in 1923. Gladys passed away in 1996^[2][3] and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Sparta, Michigan.^[4]
