Biography

Arthur Anderson migrated from Ireland to Michigan.

Born in County Antrim, Arthur emigrated to the United States from Ireland in 1870^[1] , residing in Somerset Township,Michigan and working as a farm laborer.^[2] In 1880, he lived in the home of John and Mary Calhoun, who had also immigrated from Ireland. In 1900, Arthur lived with his siblings, William and Matilda Anderson, residing at William's farm in Somerset Township. That year, Arthur worked as a blacksmith, his brother farmed, and his sister kept house.^[1] His brother married later in 1900 and Arthur moved to Macon Township, Michigan to farm.

Arthur Anderson died of heart failure, passing away at home in Macon Township at the age of 41.^[3] The attending physician ruled that the heart attack had been caused by tuberculosis. He is buried in the Anderson family plot at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, Michigan.^[4]
