The son of Arthur AndersonandSusan McCleary (1812-1883), Samuel was born in County Antrim in 1843. He married Hannah Curry in Antrim,[1] with the marriage being registered in Connor on February 23, 1865.[2] Their children included:

Their son, Arthur, was born in Ballymena,[3] with his birth being registered in Galgorm.[4] The family soon emigrated to the United States, settling first in Livingston County, New York, where his children, Susan, William, John, and Mary were born.[5] They migrated west to Michigan between 1874 and 1876, settling in Macon Township to farm; their four youngest children were born there.[6][7][8]
Samuel passed away in Adrian, Michigan at the age of 67[9] and is buried at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, Michigan.[10]

Due to the change in recording years, his birth is alternative recorded as 1843 and 1844 and, in one instance, 1845. His grave marker is etched with 1843.
