Biography

David Andrew migrated from Scotland to the United States.

David Andrew was an early resident of the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois.

David Andrew is buried in Scottish Cemetery, Caledonia, Illinois.

David was born in 1794 in Argyll, Scotland. He was the son of David Andrew and Elizabeth Mitchell ^[1]

He married Janet Howie in 1824.^[2]

They came to the US in 1842.^[3]

From New York they took a steamer up the Hudson River to Albany, then another steamer to Cleveland. His brother William met the family with a wagon and took them to Washington County Ohio.

Janet gave birth shortly after arriving in July. The baby, William, died over the winter and is buried in Washington County, Ohio. where they became part of the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois. ^[4]

They farmed in Guilford. ^[5]

David passed away in 1868.
