Biography

In Marie's & Gabriel's baptisms, the mother is called Maeyken Meeus; in Appolonia's, Maeijken Bartholomeeus.

Children: Maijken (Marie, Feb 16 1614), Anthonijtje (Nov 27 1616), Tanneken (April 30 1619); Appolonia (Aug 7 1622), Gabriel (Jan 17 1624). The Bergen op Zoom records are missing for 1604 to 1611, when they would have been married. It's also possible they had another child or two during that time. ^[1]

Although two of the baptism records for Gabriel’s children give him the patronym Andries, it becomes very clear that it was actually Anthonis.

The wife and four surviving children of Gabriel Anthonissen were involved in a case on June 20 1642 that may have been the division of his estate soon after he died. On January 27 1643, the whole family was involved in a suit again: Maijken Meeus with husbands Gabriel Anthonissen & Lenaert Fels; her children Gabriel, Tanneken, Maijken (with husband Adriaen van Daple) & Anthony. On January 14 and 21 1648, the whole family was involved in still another suit, including Maijken Meeus, her deceased husband Anthonij Gabrielssen (carpenter) and present husband Lenaert Fels, and all 4 surviving children with some spouses. On December 15 1650, Maijken Meeus seems to have resurrected a lawsuit that included the entire family as well as many other people . This may have been a case bringing up several old lawsuits at once. Maijken's deceased husband Gabriel Anthonissen is mentioned.

We don’t have any definite information on Gabriel Anthonis’ family. However, there are a few clues. Pieter Anthonisen and Lintken Anthonisen baptized a Gabriel on Aug 11 1617. Lysbet Anthonis was one of the witnesses. Anthonis and Lintken also had Anthonis (June 2 1613), Anthonia (March 1 1615, witnesses included Adriaen Anthonis & Beyken Anthonis), Kathlyne (June 8 1620), Lisken (Dec 27 1622). Lysbet, Beyken and Adriaen didn’t seem to have any children, but Adriaen did act as a baptism witness for Kathlyne daughter of Leinaert Anthonisse and Lintken Frans on Nov 11 1623.
