Richard Arnold sailed from England to the Jersey shore of the Delaware River at Burlington, New Jersey in 1678. His name is listed among the early settlers arriving at Burlington in "The History of Burlington, NJ" written in 1927 and also in "The History of The Colony of New Jersey". He married Sarah Chamberlain after his arrival in America in 1681. An article in "Biography of Early Settlers and Eminent Men of Delaware County" it says... "Richard Arnold with his wife Sarah, was an early settler in Thornbury, but not one of the earliest. It does not appear that he was a Friend (Quaker), though some of his children were. He had ten children, all born before 1714... Several of whom were married according to the rules of the Society of Friends. I (Sharron Gray Forbes) have the passenger and immigration list where his name is listed as a passenger on the ship in 1678.
