Biography

Son of James and Tamer Asbell, one of nine children.

Married on 11 January 1816 in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio to Sarah Birdsell (1794-1860).^[1] They had twelve children and adopted a granddaughter.

Residence in 1830 was in Spencer Township, Guernsey, Ohio.^[2]

Residence in 1840 was in Spencer Township, Guernsey, Ohio.^[3]

Residence in 1850 was in Hocking Township, Fairfield, Ohio.^[4] Samuel 70 (born in Pennsylvania) was a farmer and his sons; Sylvester 19 and James 16 were laborers. His wife, Sarah 56 (born in New York) was at home with two more sons; Alford 31 and Washington 12. Their farm was worth $150. These four children were all born in Ohio.

Residence in 1860 was in Goodhope Township, Hocking, Ohio.^[5] Samuel 59 was a laborer and his son, Washington 21 was also a laborer. His wife, Sarah 50, was at home with Sarah Jones 12, who was believed to have been their adopted granddaughter. Nearest Post Office was at South Bloomingville.

No other life events or relationships for Samuel Asbell have proving sources. It is believed that Samuel died after 1860 in Goodhope township of Hocking county in Ohio.
