Biography

Jane Elizabeth was born about 1860. ^[1]

In 1877 she married Eri Bennett. He passed away in 1926.

In 1929 she remarried to John Parkin.

She passed away 27 January 1941 age 80 and is buried at Inglewood Cemetery. ^{[2] [3]}

Possible birth registrations (NZ BDM)

No registration for son Bert Eri.

In the probate file, she conspicuously does not say Mark Foster Bennett is her son. A likely explanation would be that Mark was the son of her eldest daughter Jane Elizabeth (1878).

It could perhaps be possible that Bert Eri is in the same boat as it were, and adopted by his grandparents; that would explain the similarity in names and perhaps also the name change of Herbert (1888) from Eri to Evi.

In son Herbert Evi's military file, he says his parents were both born in Cornwall. However, Bert Eri's military file says father born Kent and mother born England.
